THANK YOU
Thank you to all our volunteers, supporters and our Riders /Walkers who came out, Saturday May 19th., in support of
StreetLight Mission's 3rd. Annual Ride/Walk for the Mission. Because of your effort and hard work, StreetLight Mission
will continue serving the people of Union County who struggle with poverty, disabilities, physical abuse, substance abuse and hopelessness.
It is our goal to help each person choose steps that lead them to wholeness, becoming productive members of their families and the
community. We begin by helping people with basic life needs such as food, clothing and housing. In 2011 we served 3,119 people, which
included 970 children and 112 seniors. Through our food pantry they received 33,730 bags of groceries. We gave out over 11,000 items of
winter clothing, boots, toiletries and other needed items. Thousands of people attended our many events including Block Parties and our
annual Christmas Party.
As we provide people with the resources they need to live, we earn their trust. When they feel safe, we are able to help them through our
recovery mentoring services with the more difficult problems they face such as substance abuse, abusive situations and joblessness. In 2011
we assisted 432 people access substance abuse recovery services. We hosted weekly 12 step recovery meetings. Women were encouraged and
educated through our monthly dinners while their children enjoy activities designed for them. Career counselors help guest's complete resumes
and apply for jobs.
